South African Football Mourns the Passing of Jayden Adams at 25

South African football is mourning following reports that Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jayden Adams has died at the age of 25, Softfootball confirms.

Adams represented South Africa at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring in all three of the nation’s group-stage matches before Bafana Bafana exited the tournament.

South Africa’s Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, paid tribute to the midfielder, saying:

South African football has lost one of its brightest young talents, and our nation mourns alongside his family, his team-mates and the millions of supporters who watched him grow from a promising academy prospect into a full Bafana Bafana international.

Jayden Adams was widely regarded as one of South Africa’s most promising midfielders, earning admiration for his performances with both Mamelodi Sundowns and the national team.
