The Atlas Lionesses have booked their place in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup after defeating Banyana Banyana 2–1 in a hard‑fought 2026 WAFCON quarter‑final.
Morocco took control in the first half when Hanane Ait El Haj opened the scoring in the 31st minute with a brilliant finish.
Ait El Haj then doubled Morocco’s advantage shortly after the break, calmly converting from the penalty spot in the 51st minute to make it 2–0.
South Africa refused to give in, and Thembi Kgatlana pulled one back in the 67th minute, giving Banyana Banyana hope of a comeback.
The South Africans pushed hard in the closing stages and created several promising chances, but Morocco’s defence stood firm to protect their lead.
