South Africa exit the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a dramatic 1-0 defeat to Canada

South Africa produced a disciplined defensive display, frustrating Canada for most of the match. Ronwen Williams was in fine form, while Aubrey Modiba and Mbekezeli Mbokazi made heroic interventions to deny Moise Bombito and Jonathan David.

Softfootball gathered Stephen Eustaquio scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner for co-hosts Canada as they beat South Africa 1-0 to become the first team to book their place in the last 16 of the World Cup.

But in the 92nd minute, Eustaquio controlled the ball inside the box and fired a half-volley into the far corner, sparking wild celebrations. Canada’s persistence finally paid off, while South Africa exit after defeating South Korea 1-0 in their last match the tournament and two loses.
