South African Football Association has officially announced the final squad for the South Africa women’s national under-17 football team ahead of their second-round African qualifiers for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2026, Softfootball reports.
The squad was selected by head coach Ntombifuthi Khumalo for the upcoming home and away ties against Tanzania women’s national under-17 football team scheduled for mid to late May 2026. The qualifiers form part of the pathway to the tournament hosted in Morocco.
South Africa advanced directly into the second round after the withdrawal of the Central African Republic women’s national under-17 football team.
The squad graphic released on SAFA’s official X account highlighted a youthful group heavily made up of players from the SAFA Girls Academy, alongside talents from clubs such as Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and University of the Western Cape. The selected players cover all departments including goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and forwards.

The announcement comes shortly after SAFA’s National Executive Committee sent a formal message of support to the country’s U17 men’s team ahead of the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Morocco from May 13 to June 2.
