Super Falcons interim head coach Justine Madugu has challenged his players to put their disappointing outing at the 2024 Olympic Games behind them and begin a fresh chapter with positive performances against Algeria, Softfootball reports.

Nigeria endured a difficult campaign at the Paris Olympics, failing to win a match after losing all three group-stage fixtures.

Madugu, who recently took charge following the resignation of former head coach Randy Waldrum, will oversee his first games in charge when the nine-time African champions face Algeria in two international friendlies.

Speaking ahead of the fixtures, the coach expressed satisfaction with the attitude and commitment shown by the players since camp opened on Monday.

He noted that the training sessions have been productive and revealed his expectation of impressive performances from the team in both matches.

Madugu acknowledged Algeria as worthy opponents but stressed that the Super Falcons are determined to bounce back from their underwhelming Olympic campaign and rebuild the confidence and winning mentality that has defined the team over the years.

Softfootball gathered that the first friendly will take place at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne on Saturday, October 26, with kick-off scheduled for 3 p.m.

The second meeting between both sides will be played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on Tuesday, October 29, starting at 4 p.m.

The two friendlies are expected to provide Madugu with an opportunity to assess his squad and begin preparations for upcoming international competitions while restoring belief within the team.
