The Super Falcons may have missed out on automatic qualification to the Women’s World Cup in Brazil next year, but the road to the World Cup IS NOT YET OVER.
Nigeria will play South Africa in a playoff game on Thursday, August 13th. If they win, there are 3 MORE GAMES to play to secure a World Cup ticket.

Preliminary Round (November/December)
Nigeria would join:
- CAF team
- 2 teams from AFC (Asia)
- 1 from CONMEBOL (South America)
- 1 from OFC (Oceania)
The Top 2 Teams from this stage advance to the Final Round, where they will be joined by:
- 2 teams from CONCACAF
- 1 from UEFA
- 1 from CONMEBOL
Final Round (February 2027)
This stage will be single knockout games to select the Best 3 Teams that will qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The Top 4 teams based on FIFA rankings will be drawn on one side, with the other three teams drawn to face them.
The journey is long, but still alive.
