Softfootball understands that Coventry City have reached an agreement with Fenerbahçe to sign highly rated Guinean striker Sidiki Cherif in a deal worth €24 million.

The 19-year-old forward is currently undergoing his medical and is set to sign a five-year contract with the newly promoted Premier League club once the remaining formalities are completed.

Cherif is regarded as a powerful and physically imposing striker who developed through the Angers academy before making a move to Fenerbahçe earlier in 2026. His brief spell in Turkey is now set to end after Coventry made a significant investment to secure his services.

The transfer represents another major statement of ambition from Coventry as they prepare for their first Premier League campaign following promotion.

Coventry have also reached an agreement to sign experienced Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi from Nottingham Forest as manager Frank Lampard continues reshaping his squad.

With Cherif’s medical already underway and his five-year contract agreed, the transfer is now close to completion. Coventry’s €24 million investment underlines their determination to build a competitive squad capable of surviving and establishing themselves in the Premier League.
