Less than 48 hours ago, South Africa national football team, widely known as Bafana Bafana, via their official X account shared an energetic post reintroducing players and coaching staff from their recent training camp as preparations continue for the FIFA World Cup 2026, Softfootball reports.

The post featured local expressions such as “bazalwane,” “majita,” “diski magic,” and “Kasi flava,” blending football culture with national identity to connect directly with supporters across South Africa.

They shared:

Sho bazalwane! Stand up and make some noise for majita holding it down for the nation! When these gents step onto the pitch, it’s nothing but pure diski magic and Kasi flava. Let us re-introduce you to the boys from our previous camp as we continue to build up to the World Cup.

Just days earlier, as FIFA officially launched the final countdown to the World Cup by announcing that April 22 marked 50 days until the tournament begins, Bafana Bafana also highlighted their own 50-day countdown to an upcoming clash with Mexico national football team.

That fixture has already sparked excitement online, with many fans discussing South Africa’s chances against one of North America’s strongest sides. Others used the moment to debate ticket pricing, tournament organization, and squad expectations.

However, replies to the recent social media post were mixed. Some supporters praised the positive energy and team spirit, while others criticized it as damage control following an earlier mistaken announcement. One user Barry Nkomo wrote:

Try to do damage control….be shy sometimes

Questions were also raised about player selection, club representation, and the performance of the team’s media administrators, with another user MORE LIFE, MORE LUV highlighting a list of players who should not be part of the squad. He said:

Ngwana Sesi and Lyle Foster shouldn’t be part of this squad if we want to be serious. A striker that doesn’t score goals is useless and both of them were underwhelming this season.

Despite the criticism, the renewed engagement shows an effort by Bafana Bafana to build unity and momentum ahead of a major tournament where national pride will be at stake.

In other African football news, Confederation of African Football has officially awarded Ghana hosting rights for the 2027 CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

The decision reinforces Ghana’s reputation as one of Africa’s leading football destinations and reflects confidence in its ability to stage a successful tournament.
