SAFA Rally Behind South Africa U17 Team Ahead of AFCON Tournament in Morocco

South African Football Association has officially wished the South Africa men’s national under-17 football team success ahead of the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The message was shared through SAFA’s official X account alongside a group photograph featuring the U17 squad, coaches, executives, and officials gathered outside the association’s headquarters in South Africa. The tournament is scheduled to run from May 13 to June 2, with qualification spots available for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

The South African Football Association’s (SAFA) National Executive Committee (NEC) has wished the SA U17 men’s national team well ahead of their participation in the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco (13 May-2 June 2026).

Softfootball understands that South Africa have been drawn into a difficult Group D alongside Senegal, Algeria, and Ghana.

Ahead of departure, the team also received a goodwill send-off event in Pretoria where representatives from 2026 FIFA World Cup co-host nations United States, Canada, and Mexico wished the young squad success.

Images from the event showed SAFA president Danny Jordaan alongside international delegates during jersey exchanges and official presentations symbolizing unity and international football cooperation. The campaign strongly emphasized national pride through the hashtag #BafanaPride.

Away from youth football, South Africa national football team have continued promoting fan engagement through the #BafanaFriday initiative , including a feature from SABC News promoting the growing #BafanaFriday movement and encouraging supporters to wear the national team’s iconic green and gold jerseys every Friday in a show of unity ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
