Greek Super League side Panathinaikos have emerged as the latest club interested in signing Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho from Sevilla this January.

The 28-year-old has struggled to secure regular playing time since joining the Spanish club on a free transfer from Leicester City last summer, prompting speculation over his future.

Softfootball understands that the Greek club has already initiated discussions with Sevilla as they look to strengthen their attacking options.

While several English clubs, including Watford, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ipswich Town, have also been linked with the forward, Panathinaikos are now pushing to secure his signature.

Sevilla are reportedly open to both a loan move and a permanent transfer if a suitable offer arrives before the transfer window closes.

Iheanacho has managed three goals in 11 appearances across all competitions this season but has found opportunities difficult to come by under manager García Pimienta.

A move away could provide the Nigerian international with the regular football he needs to revive his career and return to his best form ahead of future international assignments.
