Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has revealed that Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka are the two forwards he wishes he’d had the chance to play alongside during his Premier League career.
Henry scored an incredible 228 goals across his time at Highbury and the Emirates, terrorising defences throughout his spell in England, but still feels a certain partnership eluded him.
Softfootball gathers that the 1998 World Cup winner opened up on his dream pairing while speaking on Sky Sports. He said of Drogba:
Because of the way he used to play and the way he was. You have two players who I would have loved to play with in the Premier League. Him and Anelka. I would have loved to play with Anelka up front and him.
Henry revealed he’d even discussed the hypothetical partnership with Drogba himself during a recent chance meeting. He added:
I saw him the other day and we were actually talking about it. We sat down at the airport and I went, can you believe if we played both of us together? It would have been a bit of a problem.
