Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has stated that he has no regrets about selling Joao Felix to AC Milan during the January transfer window.
The Portuguese forward joined the Serie A giants on loan, a move that has left Chelsea short of attacking options following injuries to Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu. Softfootball reports that Maresca remains confident in his decision.
Maresca emphasized that the departure was beneficial for all parties involved, noting that Felix is happy at his new club. He acknowledged the unexpected nature of the injury crisis but stressed that such situations are difficult to predict and should not dictate past transfer decisions.
He explained his stance by stating:
I don’t think we miss Joao. Joao is happy there and we are happy Joao is happy there. The only thing I can say is no-one would predict on deadline day we had two strikers injured. This is something that is difficult to think. It unfortunately happened but we have Nico to be back very soon.
The Chelsea boss expressed relief that Jackson is nearing a return to fitness, which will help alleviate the pressure on the squad. His comments reflect a pragmatic approach to squad management despite the current challenges in the attacking department.
