Barcelona produced another emphatic attacking display as they thrashed Racing Santander 7-2, with Raphinha scoring a hat-trick while Lamine Yamal and Karim Adeyemi also impressed.
Softfootball understands that Hansi Flick’s side controlled the contest from the opening whistle and quickly established their dominance. João Cancelo opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a superb finish before Raphinha doubled the advantage from the penalty spot.
Racing briefly threatened when Maguette Gueye pulled one back, but Barcelona responded through an own goal from Asier Villalibre before Raphinha added his second in the 42nd minute.
Yamal missed a penalty before half-time, with Julen Agirrezabala producing an excellent save. Racing then reduced the deficit to 4-2 after Yassir Zabiri capitalised on a costly mistake by Wojciech Szczęsny.
However, Barcelona quickly regained control. Raphinha completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot in the 67th minute, before substitute Gabriel Jesus made it 6-2. Yamal eventually got his goal in the 89th minute after Adeyemi’s excellent run and pass left him with an empty net.
The result follows Barcelona’s impressive 5-0 demolition of Valencia at Mestalla, where Yamal scored twice, while Fermín López produced a goal and two assists. Raphinha and Pedri were also on target as Barça maintained their perfect league start.
Softfootball believes the back-to-back victories underline Barcelona’s attacking strength, with the Catalan giants continuing to produce goals from several different players.
