AS Monaco have completed an agreement with 18-year-old Moroccan talent Safouane Benzahra, with the youngster putting pen to paper on a new deal at the French club, Softfootball reports.
Benzahra’s new contract represents another important step in the development of the talented midfielder, who joined Monaco from NAC Breda in 2025. The club’s official profile confirms that he previously signed a three-year academy contract and has since progressed into the Elite Group.
The 18-year-old enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 campaign with Monaco’s Under-19 side, making 18 appearances, scoring eight goals and providing four assists before earning opportunities around the first-team setup.
Benzahra has also already been involved with Monaco’s senior team this season, including appearances in European competition and Ligue 1. His progress has been closely followed after he represented Morocco at youth level.
Softfootball understands that the latest agreement is part of Monaco’s wider strategy of securing the futures of promising young players developed within or recruited into their Academy.
The deal was signed today, with Benzahra pictured alongside his agent Nathan van Kooperen from Muy Manero following the agreement.
Meanwhile, Monaco are also reportedly working on another addition, with the club understood to have reached a verbal agreement to sign Erik Lira from Cruz Azul.
The potential Lira move would add further depth to Monaco’s squad, while Benzahra’s new deal underlines the club’s continued focus on developing young talent for the future.
For Benzahra, the agreement provides another major milestone in his rapidly developing career as he looks to establish himself at senior level in Monaco.
