AS Monaco have offered Paul Pogba the opportunity to terminate his contract by mutual consent, with the Ligue 1 club keen to give the midfielder enough time to find a new team this year.
According to reports from Nice-Matin and Le Parisien, Monaco have informed Pogba’s representatives of their proposal and would like the agreement to be completed before September 1.
The final decision now rests with Pogba, who is currently dealing with another injury setback. Monaco are prepared to release the 32-year-old rather than leave him without a clear path forward, allowing the former France international to explore opportunities elsewhere.
Pogba joined Monaco on a two-year contract as he attempted to rebuild his career after serving a doping suspension that kept him away from competitive football.
However, his return has been complicated by fitness problems. In February 2026, Softfootball reported that Pogba had been left out of Monaco’s Champions League squad following his latest injury setbacks as he continued working towards full fitness.
His time at Monaco was intended to represent a fresh beginning for the 2018 World Cup winner after a difficult final period at Manchester United and his subsequent suspension.
Now, however, the club appear ready to help Pogba begin another chapter. If the French midfielder accepts the termination proposal, he would become a free agent and could negotiate with interested clubs without a transfer fee.
