Real Madrid have issued a strongly worded official statement in response to recent comments from LaLiga president Javier Tebas, accusing him of repeatedly using his institutional position to attack the club, Softfootball reports.
The statement comes after Tebas publicly addressed Real Madrid’s complaints surrounding the refereeing decisions in the Madrid derby defeat to Atlético Madrid. Tebas had said he understood the club’s complaints but not the manner in which they were being made, while also defending the officials involved.
Real Madrid have now hit back, expressing their dissatisfaction with what they described as repeated public attacks and criticism from the LaLiga president. The club also questioned Tebas’ decision to comment on an independent journalist’s article while using his position to criticise Real Madrid’s sporting strategy.
The Spanish giants argued that LaLiga requires leadership focused on neutrality and serving all clubs, insisting that the president should act as an administrator rather than as the owner of the competition. The club also claimed that Tebas’ public interventions are damaging the image of LaLiga and Spanish football internationally.
The latest dispute follows a controversial Madrid derby in which Real Madrid lost 2-1 to Atlético. The match also left the club dealing with a significant injury concern involving Fede Valverde.
Real Madrid have confirmed that Valverde has been diagnosed with a grade-three sprain in his left ankle following further medical tests. The club’s official medical report said his recovery will depend on his evolution.
Reports in Spain indicate that the Uruguay international could be sidelined for around two to three weeks and is expected to miss upcoming international fixtures. The injury occurred after a challenge from Atlético’s Lee Kang-in during the derby.
