The Real Madrid superstar is now joint-fifth among the all-time leading scorers in the Champions League, level with legendary Spanish forward Raúl González.

The current rankings are:

  1. Cristiano Ronaldo — 141 goals
  2. Lionel Messi — 129 goals
  3. Robert Lewandowski — 109 goals
  4. Karim Benzema — 90 goals
  5. Kylian Mbappé — 71 goals
  6. Raúl González — 71 goals

Softfootball reports that Mbappé’s latest goal further highlights his extraordinary scoring record on Europe’s biggest club stage. The French forward has reached the 71-goal mark at a much younger age than several players ahead of him and still has many years of Champions League football left.

Mbappé has never hidden his ambition to chase major records. The 27-year-old has previously spoken about his desire to continue improving his numbers and challenge some of football’s most prestigious scoring milestones.

His rapid rise is particularly impressive considering that he has already entered the conversation alongside legends such as Ronaldo, Messi, Lewandowski and Benzema.

With 71 goals to his name, Mbappé is only 19 goals behind Benzema’s 90-goal tally. If he maintains his current scoring rate, he could potentially move further up the historic rankings in the coming seasons.

For now, Mbappé will focus on helping Real Madrid compete for another Champions League title while continuing to write his name into European football history. We hope to see him do great things and more goals in Real madrid in the coming seasons.
