Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has refused to single out one player for the Ballon d’Or, insisting that several members of his squad have the quality to win the prestigious individual award.
We have many fantastic players, and I would be very happy if any of them wins the Ballon d’Or,
Flick said.
The German coach believes the award should not distract his players from their daily responsibilities, stressing that mentality and consistency remain more important than individual recognition.
“That’s not my job. What’s important is the attitude and mentality on a day-to-day basis. Several of them could win it!”
he added.
Softfootball notes that Barcelona have several strong candidates among the official 30 Ballon d’Or nominees, including Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsí and Ferran Torres. Yamal in particular has emerged as one of the leading young players in world football following another impressive campaign.
