Jerome Akor Adams has revealed that Super Eagles teammates Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho played a key role in convincing him to join Spanish La Liga side Sevilla.

The Nigerian striker made the revelation during his official unveiling at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán on Tuesday after completing his move from French Ligue 1 club Montpellier.

Adams has signed a contract that will keep him at Sevilla until 2029 and is now looking forward to starting a new chapter in his career.

The 24-year-old said he spoke with both Ejuke and Iheanacho before making his decision, with the two Nigeria internationals encouraging him to make the move, saying:

I spoke to Ejuke and he told me that I had to come here, that I would love it. Kelechi is a great player and he also told me that. I’m very happy that I listened to them.

Speaking about his arrival in Spain, Adams said the transfer process had been a positive experience and expressed his delight at joining a club of Sevilla’s stature.

It has been a very good few days and with many good people. I am very happy to be here. All the negotiations have been with my agent. We know that Sevilla are a great club and I am very happy to have arrived.

Softfootball reports that Adams arrived in Seville on Saturday and had the opportunity to watch his new team in action at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán against Espanyol.

Adams will now hope to make his competitive debut for Sevilla and begin repaying the faith shown in him following his move from Montpellier.
