Former Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has rejected an opportunity to become the new manager of Turkish Super Lig club Kayserispor.
According to Portuguese publication A Bola, Peseiro held discussions with the club but ultimately decided against taking up the vacant managerial position.
Softfootball reports that Kayserispor currently sit 17th in the Turkish Super Lig standings with 16 points and will be hoping their new manager can help them avoid relegation.
The 64-year-old has been without a club since leaving his position as Nigeria head coach in March 2024 following the expiration of his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Following Peseiro’s decision, Kayserispor moved quickly to appoint Bosnian coach Sergej Jakirovic on an 18-month contract.
The Turkish club are currently facing a difficult period, both on and off the pitch. Kayserispor have been handed a three-window transfer registration ban and are also dealing with financial difficulties.
The Anatolian outfit are winless in their last five matches, suffering four defeats and recording one draw during that run.
