Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka has urged patience with Victor Boniface’s adaptation to the Super Eagles, insisting the striker remains a genuinely important player for both club and country despite his early struggles on the international stage.
Softfootball understands that Xhaka addressed the topic in an interview with OmaSports TV, pointing to the difficulty of adjusting to a new tactical setup with limited time on the training ground compared to club football.

Explaining the challenge, Xhaka said:
It’s always difficult because you don’t have a lot of time to adapt, enough time to work through the tactical setup every day with the same coach, and same players, but everyone wants to play for their country.
He was clear about Boniface’s value to both sides regardless of recent form:
He’s important for us, and for sure, he’ll be important for Nigeria in the future and I’ll say stay calm because he’s a great guy and a great footballer. He will give a lot to make the people happy for sure.
