Nigeria played out a 2–2 draw with Poland in an international friendly in Warsaw, sharing the points after a dramatic finish that saw both teams exchange late blows.

Softfootball gathered, the Super Eagles opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, when Terem Moffi calmly converted a well‑worked move after an assist from Moses Simon.

But deep into stoppage time, Poland found a dramatic equaliser. In the 90+5 minute, Przemysław Wiśniewski unleashed a powerful strike from roughly 26 yards, beating Maduka Okoye to rescue a draw for the hosts.

The late goal triggered strong reactions from Nigerian fans, many of whom blamed Maduka Okoye for conceding from long range.

Josiah voiced his frustration on X:

“Maduka Okoye has to do more. The No. 1 spot should not be a present. You should grab it on merit. Sometimes, it feels like Maduka is not up to it… his positioning and catches haven’t been satisfactory at the national team level. Can we see Arthur Okonkwo under pressure? We need a keeper we can trust.”

Another fan, Abulecfc on X, expressed disbelief that Okoye conceded from nearly 30 yards.

AndyUnited added:

Okoye conceded the equaliser from about 35 yards out from a CB. He should have saved that shot.

It was a game of two halves for Nigeria. The Super Eagles showed strong attacking intent and improved structure after the restart, but lapses in concentration at key moments proved costly, particularly at the end of both halves.

For Eric Chelle, the match offers valuable lessons in game management and maintaining defensive focus when protecting a lead.

Nigeria will now look to build on the positives while addressing late‑game concentration issues as they prepare for their next challenge against Portugal.
