Super Eagles and Bayern Leverkusen forward Nathan Tella is back in training after recovering from a back injury that kept him on the sidelines.
His injury occurred in late August 2026, shortly after he scored in a DFB‑Pokal match against Wehen Wiesbaden. He suffered a back injury that forced him to miss Bayer Leverkusen’s early‑season Bundesliga fixtures and ruled him out of Nigeria’s international break matches in September.
He has just recently returned to team training as of mid‑September 2026, having made only one appearance for Bayer Leverkusen this season, the DFB‑Pokal game where he scored in their impressive 4‑0 victory over Wehen Wiesbaden.
Softfootball understands that since then, the Super Eagles forward has been sidelined and has missed Bayer Leverkusen’s last three Bundesliga matches due to the injury setback.
As at Tuesday, 15th September 2026, the 27‑year‑old is now back in training after a successful recovery and will be hoping to regain full match fitness and fight for a regular place in the team.
