Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos has said his loan spell at Strasbourg has helped him prove his quality and settle properly into European football.

Softfootball notes that the Brazilian youngster has used his time in France to rebuild confidence after a difficult spell at Nottingham Forest.

Santos joined Chelsea from Brazil and quickly had to adjust to a new football environment. He arrived in England shortly after the Brazilian season ended and took part in Chelsea’s pre-season.

Although he felt physically ready and believed he performed well during pre-season, he realised that regular playing time would be difficult to secure at Stamford Bridge.

That led to his loan move to Nottingham Forest, but the experience did not go as he had hoped. Santos worked hard in training and tried to show his ability, but he did not get enough opportunities to play.

After returning to Chelsea, the midfielder later moved to Strasbourg, where he believes he has finally found the right platform to express himself.

Speaking on the Ubuntu Esporte Clube podcast, Santos said he is happy with his development at Strasbourg and believes the loan has allowed him to show his football to a wider European audience.

The Brazilian also described the move as important for his growth, confidence, and adaptation to football in Europe.

For Chelsea, Santos’ progress will be encouraging, as the club continues to monitor the development of its young talents across Europe.

The midfielder will now hope to keep improving at Strasbourg and strengthen his chances of becoming an important player for Chelsea in the future.
