AS Roma are advancing toward the final stages of a deal to sign Bologna striker Santi Castro as they continue strengthening their squad ahead of the new season. Roma have submitted a proposal worth €30 million plus a further €5 million in add-ons, with discussions continuing over the structure of the remaining bonuses before a final agreement can be reached.

The 21-year-old Argentine has already agreed personal terms with Roma and is keen to make the move, giving Gian Piero Gasperini’s side a significant boost as they look to complete the transfer.

Castro joined Bologna from Vélez Sarsfield in 2024 and has quickly established himself as one of Serie A’s most promising young forwards. His intelligent movement, clinical finishing and relentless work rate have attracted interest from several clubs, but Roma have emerged as the frontrunners for his signature.

Last year, Softfootball reported that Bologna had firmly rejected interest from Al Hilal, making it clear they had no intention of selling the striker. However, they are now open to negotiating a structured deal that could pave the way for his departure.

Roma’s pursuit of Castro also reflects a shift in strategy after negotiations for other attacking targets. With the player already on board and talks between the clubs progressing positively, Roma are increasingly confident of completing one of their priority signings before the summer transfer window closes.
