Leicester City manager Steve Cooper has confirmed that Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has returned to the club in good condition following Nigeria’s difficult experience in Libya during the international break.

Softfootball said Cooper revealed that Leicester remained in regular contact with Ndidi throughout the ordeal, despite communication being affected by poor internet access. The midfielder was among the Super Eagles players left stranded for more than 15 hours at Al Abraq Airport before their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya was eventually called off.

The Leicester boss expressed relief that Ndidi returned safely and stressed that the club carefully assessed both his physical and mental condition after the incident. According to Cooper, the Nigerian international resumed training immediately upon his return and showed no signs of being negatively affected by the experience.

Cooper added that Ndidi trained well with his teammates and looked sharp throughout the session, giving the coaching staff confidence that he is fully prepared for Leicester City’s next fixture. The manager insisted the experienced midfielder remains an important part of his plans and will be available for selection alongside the rest of the squad.
