Late Portuguese footballer Diogo Jota was posthumously honoured with a Special Globe Soccer Award at the 2025 Globe Soccer Awards ceremony held on Sunday, December 28, in Dubai, Softfootball.
Jota, who tragically died in a car crash on July 3, 2025, was remembered for his immense contribution to football and the joy he brought to fans across the world. According to the official Globe Soccer statement, the award was presented by renowned football agent Jorge Mendes and accepted by Joaquim and Isabel Silva.

The 2025 Globe Soccer Awards ceremony also celebrated several other major winners. Luis Enrique was named Best Coach of the Year following his UEFA Champions League and Super Cup success with Paris Saint-Germain. Aitana Bonmatí won Best Women’s Player, while her club, Barcelona Women, claimed Best Women’s Club of the Year.
The Dubai ceremony once again showcased football’s finest, while also taking a moment to honour the memory of a player gone too soon but never forgotten.
