Taiwo Awoniyi Makes Coventry Debut in 3–0 Loss to Arsenal

Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has made his first debut in Coventry City’s 3:0 loss to Arsenal on Friday, 21 August 2026, in the 2026/27 English Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium.

Awoniyi, who had joined Coventry United on Monday, 17 August 2026 from Nottingham Forest, started from the bench before he was introduced in the 70th minute by manager Frank Lampard as Coventry searched for a way back into the game.

Softfootball can confirm Awoniyi worked hard after coming on and led the line for the visitors, but Coventry were unable to break down the reigning Premier League champions, as goals from Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard secured a 3–0 victory for Arsenal.
