Manchester City maintained their 100% start to the Premier League season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Coventry at the Etihad Stadium, making it three wins from three under Enzo Maresca, Softfootball reports.
The game also marked the Manchester City debuts of Iliman Ndiaye and Enzo Fernández, with the latter handed a surprise start after Nico O’Reilly suffered a back injury during the warm-up. Fernández justified his selection with an impressive performance in midfield.

City eventually broke the deadlock midway through the first half. Fernández helped initiate the decisive move before Antoine Semenyo delivered a dangerous cross from the right, allowing Erling Haaland to rise brilliantly and power a thunderous header beyond Carl Rushworth.
The goal carried added significance for Haaland as it represented the Norwegian striker’s 300th club goal, further underlining his remarkable goalscoring record.
City dominated possession throughout and finished with 78% of the ball and 770 passes, but Coventry refused to collapse. The visitors created opportunities after the interval and pushed hard for an equaliser, with Gianluigi Donnarumma producing several important saves to protect City’s narrow advantage.
