Nottingham Forest have moved quickly to change direction, with Vítor Pereira agreeing a contract to become the club’s new head coach until the end of the 2025/26 season, according to Fabrizio Romano on February 13 via their x handle.

Nottingham Forest appoint Vitor Pereira as new head coach until the end of the season. Agreement sealed with Portuguese manager who’s set to take over at #NFFC after Sean Dyche got sacked.

The Portuguese coach arrives just days after Sean Dyche was sacked following only 114 days in charge. Dyche’s final game was a frustrating 0–0 draw with bottom-placed Wolves, a match Forest dominated with 35 shots but somehow failed to score in a result that proved to be the final straw for the club’s hierarchy.

Pereira’s appointment underlines just how turbulent Forest’s season has been. They have now become the first Premier League club to appoint four different permanent managers in a single campaign, after already parting ways with Nuno Espírito Santo in September and Ange Postecoglou in October.

Owner Evangelos Marinakis moved quickly, with reports suggesting Pereira was the clear favourite thanks to their previous working relationship at Olympiacos, where they won a league and cup double in 2015.

The task ahead is huge. Forest currently sit 17th in the table, just three points above the relegation zone with 12 matches left. Pereira knows what a survival fight looks like Softfootball reports that his role in keeping Wolves up last season played a big part in Forest’s decision to bring him in.

Ironically, Pereira himself was sacked by Wolves in November 2025 after a winless start to the current campaign, adding another layer of pressure to his return to the Premier League spotlight.

There will be no gentle settling-in period. Pereira’s first match is expected to be a Europa League knockout play-off away to Fenerbahçe, followed by a brutal domestic run against Liverpool, Brighton, and Manchester City.

With confidence fragile and the margin for error slim, Forest are once again gambling on a managerial reset hoping Pereira can bring stability where chaos has ruled all season.
