Napoli are about to sign former Real Madrid academy product, Miguel Gutierrez this summer. Softfootball has followed all of Napoli’s transfer business this summer as the Italian champions are nearing a 100m Euros expenditure.
While Napoli have finalised terms with the Spanish club Girona, they are waiting to see if Real Madrid will not activate the buy back clause on Miguel’s contract. Napoli are ready to pay the €18m on the contract of the winger.

Miguel, although currently recovering from ankle surgery, is reportedly open to a new challenge and has given the green light to team up with Napoli who also now have Kevin De Bruyne in their team.
The Scudetto winners are looking to add more qualities to the squad so as to help them defend the title next season. They have signed 6 players already this summer. De Bruyne, Sam Beukema, Noa Lang, Vanja Milinkovic-Savic are a few of the names recently signed on.
According to Goal, Gutierrez, still owned in part by Real Madrid through a 50 per cent resale clause and could still trigger the €8m buyback clause on the player.
Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna reignited talks with both Girona and the player’s new agent, Manuel Garcia Quilon, and an €18m deal, with potential bonuses pushing it to €20m, is sealed and have offered the player a 5 year deal.
Miguel joined Real Madrid since 2011 as a child and grew through the ranks till 2022. Between 2021 and 2022, he was part of Madrid’s senior team playing 9 times. He has played 98 games for Girona scoring 5 goals.
Confirming his transfer, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano posted via his verified X handle that it was almost done.
He wrote:
“The verbal agreement between Napoli and Girona for Miguel Gutierrez deal is done.
“€18m plus add-ons, five year deal for Gutierrez who only wants Napoli.
“As soon as Real Madrid confirm they will not activate buy back clause, deal will be sealed.
“Here we go, soon.”
The club still have business to do which includes a €30m valuation for Giacomo Raspadori amid interest from Atletico Madrid and talks with Juventus for Fabio Miretti. Napoli have offered €10m for Miretti but Juventus are holding out for €20m (£17m/$23m), though optimism remains for a compromise.
