Former Nigeria international Finidi George has criticised Sevilla over their handling of Kelechi Iheanacho, claiming the Super Eagles striker has not been given a fair opportunity to prove himself.

Iheanacho joined the La Liga club during the summer but has struggled for regular playing time, leading to growing speculation over his future before the transfer window closes.

Softfootball understands several clubs have already shown interest in the Nigerian forward as uncertainty continues to surround his future at Sevilla.

Finidi believes Sevilla placed high expectations on the forward but failed to give him sufficient time to settle into a new environment. According to the former winger, the club’s treatment of Iheanacho has been disappointing.

The ex-Super Eagles coach advised the 28-year-old to seriously consider leaving if a suitable offer arrives, arguing that the striker still possesses the quality to succeed at a high level.

Finidi also suggested a return to English football could be an attractive option, although he believes Iheanacho could equally thrive in another competitive European league where he feels more valued.
