Arsenal’s injury crisis has claimed another key name. Ben White will be sidelined for months after undergoing a knee procedure during the international break, Mikel Arteta has confirmed, a decision the club held off on for as long as possible.
Ben White had played the full 90 minutes in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea before the break, despite carrying issues that had already forced him to the bench against Manchester City in September.
Softfootball learnt that Arteta explained the surgery only became necessary once conservative treatment stopped working:
It’s not been improving in the last few weeks. We had to protect the player and we decided to do the surgery. He agreed with that.
Jurrien Timber and Thomas Partey now inherit right-back duties through a congested festive schedule.
Combined with Martin Odegaard’s earlier ankle injury, Arteta’s preferred right-side trio remains scattered at the worst possible time.
