Softfootball gathered from media sources that Victor Boniface has revealed a striking detail about his early career in Europe, during his time in Norway with Bodø/Glimt, he earned €3,000 per month and often had to collect two months’ salary upfront every December just to afford his trip back home to Nigeria.
Speaking to the media, Boniface explained how difficult it was financially at the time, noting that the cost of travelling back to Nigeria exceeded what his monthly wage could comfortably cover.
Despite those humble beginnings, Boniface’s rise has been nothing short of remarkable. Known for his explosive physical power, elite dribbling, and clinical finishing, he became a global sensation during Bayer Leverkusen’s historic undefeated domestic double under Xabi Alonso.
However, his journey took a difficult turn in September 2025, when he moved to SV Werder Bremen on a season‑long loan after falling down the pecking order during a brief managerial stint under Erik ten Hag at Leverkusen. His time at Bremen was limited by a fringe role and significant physical setbacks.
