Norway, considered a dark horse, are now serious contenders after knocking out Brazil at the New York/New Jersey Stadium, Softfootball reports.
The breakthrough came in the 80th minute when Andreas Schjelderup’s cross was met by Haaland, who rose above Gabriel to head home. Ten minutes later, Schjelderup again provided the assist, setting up Haaland for a low-driven finish past Alisson — his seventh goal of the tournament.
Brazil pulled one back in the 100th minute when Casemiro was fouled by Leo Østigård. Neymar Jr. converted the penalty, but Norway held firm to secure their place among the last eight.
Norway will face the winner of Mexico vs. England on July 11 in Miami. Brazil exit with a record of three wins, one draw, and one loss.
