Defending champions Nigeria national football team booked their place in the Unity Cup final after a composed 2–0 victory over Zimbabwe national football team at The Valley on May 26, 2026, Softfootball reports.
The evening belonged to debutant Femi Azeez, who delivered a dream first appearance by scoring both goals and sending the Super Eagles into another final.
Nigeria wasted little time imposing themselves on the contest. Azeez opened the scoring inside five minutes, finishing off an early attacking move as the Super Eagles controlled possession and prevented Zimbabwe from creating sustained pressure before the interval.

Despite a more adventurous approach from Zimbabwe after the break, Nigeria remained organised and clinical. Veteran forward Terem Moffi played a decisive role, producing two intelligent assists and showing his experience through excellent decision-making in the final third.
Azeez then sealed the result with his second goal of the night to complete a memorable debut performance.
The result also continued Nigeria’s strong recent record after the sides previously shared a dramatic 1–1 draw during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification in Uyo.
Nigeria will now await the winner between India national football team and Jamaica national football team as they aim to retain the Unity Cup trophy, while reactions poured in online celebrating Azeez’s breakthrough display.
