The National Sports Commission (NSC) has cancelled the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Elective Congress scheduled for September 27 in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

Softfootball believes the decision is expected to pave the way for a major reorganisation of Nigerian football, with the NSC reportedly set to appoint a three‑month normalisation committee to oversee the federation and prepare the ground for fresh elections.

The move comes after a difficult period for Nigerian football, including the Super Falcons’ failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
