Erling Haaland’s agent Rafaela Pimenta has played down speculation linking the striker with a move to FC Barcelona, Softfootball understands.

Manchester City fell to Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League and their chances of staying alive in the competition are very slim. Guardiola’s side were thrashed 3-0 in the first leg and if they are eliminated, there are some players who would be looking for a possible exit from the club at the end of the season

In comments shared by transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano via his X handle, Pimenta made it clear that there has been no contact between Barcelona and the player regarding a possible transfer.

Fabrizio confirmed this statement:

Erling Haaland’s agent Rafaela Pimenta plays down reports on Barcelona move suggested during the elections process. “We have a lot of respect and admiration for Barcelona, but there hasn’t been any contact whatsoever — with Erling Haaland or with Barcelona’s management, regarding potential transfer targets”.

“Also, because the player renewed his contract a few months ago, he’s very happy at Manchester City”. “Everything is going very well for him and we really have nothing to discuss about a transfer when everything is so good at City”, told @elchiringuitotv @marcosbenito9.

The rumours surfaced at a time when Barcelona are exploring long-term attacking options as they plan for the future beyond Robert Lewandowski. The Spanish club have reportedly monitored Haaland for several years, while another player admired by the Catalan side is Julián Álvarez of Atlético Madrid, although his current contract and high release clause could make a deal difficult.

Despite Guardiola’s remarkable record and one of the most successful managerial careers in modern football, recent performances have sparked discussion about whether Manchester City’s current cycle under the Spanish coach could be approaching its final phase.

Barcelona’s transfer plans may also depend on the outcome of the club’s upcoming presidential elections, where the winning candidate will need to assess the financial and sporting feasibility of signing a new striker.

The result has left Pep Guardiola’s side with a difficult task in the return leg and raised questions about whether some players could consider their futures if the club exits the competition early.
