Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has stated that winning the Premier League remains the club’s primary objective. Softfootball gathered that the Dutch defender spoke after Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Newcastle United, a result that moved them 13 points clear at the summit.

Goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister secured the win at Anfield. Speaking to the club’s website, van Dijk emphasized that personal accolades are secondary to lifting the trophy. He said:

The only thing is, and I think he mentioned it himself as well, we want to win the Premier League. We want to win obviously as much as possible this season.

The captain highlighted the importance of consistency and hard work. He noted:

If we keep going, if he keeps going then he will be rewarded anyway for all the hard work he puts in each and every day. We all will be rewarded and that’s the main goal.

Van Dijk revealed he frequently discusses team strategy with his teammates, ensuring everyone remains aligned. He added:

Our main objective is to win the Premier League and do everything in our power to do that and I think so far, so good. We just have to keep going.

With a significant gap now established, Liverpool look determined to maintain their momentum until the season concludes.
