Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has admitted the Reds still have plenty of room for improvement despite maintaining their position at the top of the Premier League table, Softfootball reports.
Arne Slot’s side were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw against Manchester United at Anfield after surrendering a second-half lead.
The result kept Liverpool six points clear of second-placed Arsenal with a game in hand, but Van Dijk believes his team must become more consistent if they are to achieve their ambitions this season.
Reflecting on the performance after the final whistle, the Dutch defender acknowledged that Liverpool failed to control the game after taking the lead and paid tribute to United for making life difficult.
We’re still a work in progress. We can improve and we should improve if we want to achieve our goals and dreams that we have.
But the only thing we have to focus on is what’s ahead of us. Today was a very tough one, we got a point and we move on,
Van Dijk said.
He also expressed disappointment with the goals Liverpool conceded, insisting the team must learn from the mistakes and quickly shift focus to their upcoming fixtures.
