Nigeria captain and Al-Kholood Club defender William Troost-Ekong has expressed confidence that the Super Eagles will defeat Libya in Friday’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Softfootball understands that former Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong recently enjoyed family time in the UK, but his attention is now fully on helping Nigeria secure another important victory in their AFCON qualification campaign.
Troost-Ekong told Completesports.com that the Super Eagles are determined to beat the Mediterranean Knights at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
The experienced centre-back dismissed fears of a possible Libyan upset but admitted that the game would not be easy.
No, no, no, there won’t be any chance of them pulling us down. We’ll win, we’ll get the three points, but we know it will be difficult against the Libyans,
Troost-Ekong said.
The Nigerian captain also stressed that the players understand the importance of the fixture and are not taking anything for granted.

According to him, the Super Eagles are fully focused on qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco next year.
We want to be at the AFCON next year. We cannot afford to miss the tournament in Morocco. We’re working hard—players, coaches, officials, everyone—and we hope to achieve our dream,
he added.
Troost-Ekong’s comments reflect the mood in the Super Eagles camp as the team prepares for a crucial match in front of their home supporters.
Nigeria will be aiming to secure all three points and strengthen their position in the qualification race.
For Troost-Ekong and his teammates, the message is clear: respect Libya, stay focused, and deliver victory for Nigerians.
