Frank Onyeka Suffers Injury, Adding to Nigeria’s Growing List of Absentees Ahead of AFCON 2027 Qualifiers

Super Eagles midfielder, Frank Onyeka has sustained an injury and has now added to the list of Super Eagles players ruled out ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Onyeka featured for 73 minutes before appearing to pick up a wrist injury during Coventry’s heavy 5–0 defeat to Brighton. The Nigerian midfielder was visibly in discomfort after being pushed to the ground by an opponent and was eventually forced off the pitch.

The full extent of the injury is yet to be confirmed, with further medical updates expected in the coming days.

This adds to Nigeria’s growing injury concerns, with the likes of Zadok Yohanna already ruled out of the Super Eagles squad for the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, and even the Super Eagles talisman Victor Osimhen also sidelined.
