On Saturday, 8 August 2026, thousands of Cristiano Ronaldo fans mobbed a confused bride after mistakenly believing they had arrived for CR7’s wedding.

Rumours had circulated online that Ronaldo would be getting married that day, a claim Softfootball never confirmed, as Ronaldo never mentioned anything publicly. We wondered how fans believed a wedding of that scale could be happening without any official announcement.

Softfootball can confirm that more than 2,000 fans gathered outside Madeira Cathedral, expecting to see Ronaldo marry Georgina Rodríguez. Instead, they were greeted by Portuguese couple Fabio Ramos and Fatima Nicole Cunha Teixeira, who were the actual bride and groom.

Fans even swarmed the bride’s Rolls‑Royce, believing she was Georgina, while her bridesmaids struggled to clear a path to the cathedral.

The priest later clarified that the couple had nothing to do with Ronaldo, and that it was the only wedding taking place at the cathedral that day.
