Jay‑Jay Okocha selected Messi over Ronaldo during his ObiOne Podcast conversation with Mikel Obi. Softfootball gathered that despite choosing Messi, he mentioned Ronaldo is also special, comparing him to Haaland.
This was his comment during the interview:
Messi for me. Ronaldo is special, but he’s a goalscorer like Haaland. Messi is on another planet; he’s art. He was born to play football. I think Messi would get ill if he didn’t play football.
Okocha, in the same interview, also talked about how he was named Jay‑Jay, explaining that it all began in the neighbourhood where he grew up, surrounded by football‑loving kids, including his two brothers.
