Nigeria’s Super Eagles have retained 44th position in the latest FIFA men’s world rankings released on Thursday, maintaining their place despite recent international results.
Softfootball reports the Super Eagles remain the fifth-highest ranked team in Africa, sitting behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt and Algeria in the continental standings.
Morocco continue to lead the African rankings at 14th in the world, while Senegal occupy 17th place globally. Egypt are ranked 33rd, with Algeria following closely in 37th position, leaving Nigeria fifth on the continent.
The latest rankings come after Nigeria dropped eight places in November following a disappointing run of international fixtures. Although the Super Eagles have avoided another decline this month, they will be aiming to improve their position in upcoming FIFA windows through positive performances in competitive matches.
At the summit of the global rankings, there was no change as reigning world champions Argentina retained first place. France remain second, while Spain, England and Brazil complete the top five. The rankings provide another important benchmark as Nigeria continue preparations for future international assignments.
