Italy manager Luciano Spalletti has delivered a harsh verdict on Federico Chiesa’s start to life in the Premier League, describing the winger’s move to Liverpool as a failure.
The 27-year-old joined from Juventus last summer but has struggled with injuries and limited playing time under Arne Slot.
Softfootball reports that Spalletti did not hold back in his assessment during an interview with Italian media. He said:
Unfortunately, he has failed in England.
The national team boss pointed to Chiesa’s lack of minutes played as evidence of his struggles, having featured for only 25 minutes in the league so far this season.

Spalletti emphasized that Chiesa needs to improve his consistency and defensive work rate to succeed at the highest level. For now, the Italian international remains on the fringes at Anfield, looking to regain fitness and prove his critics wrong after a difficult debut campaign.
