Premier League legend Alan Shearer believes Liverpool will find it extremely difficult to replace Mohamed Salah if the Egyptian forward leaves Anfield at the end of the season, Softfootball reports.
Salah’s contract situation remains unresolved, with the 32-year-old repeatedly hinting that he could leave after eight memorable years with the Reds. Despite the uncertainty, Shearer insists Liverpool should do everything possible to keep one of the club’s greatest players.
Introducing his assessment, Shearer praised Salah’s professionalism and longevity before stressing the impact his departure would have. During Amazon Prime’s coverage, he said:
I really hope he stays because he’s such a wonderful player,
Because of his training regime and because he keeps himself so fit, there’s plenty of time he’s got left.
The former Newcastle striker added that replacing a player of Salah’s quality would be nearly impossible. He said:
I don’t know what the issues are, but if he has to leave, they’re not going to get anyone as good as him for a while.
Salah recently scored his 50th European goal for Liverpool against Lille but remained non-committal over his future.
