Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has suggested that Paris Saint-Germain could renew their interest in Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman during the January transfer window.

Lookman has continued to attract attention following an outstanding year for both club and country, culminating in his 14th-place finish at the 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris. The Nigerian international was also the only African player nominated among the 30 finalists.

Softfootball understands that PSG were keen on signing the former Leicester City winger during the summer transfer window but failed to complete a deal before the deadline.

Speaking after the Ballon d’Or ceremony, Gasperini admitted the French champions could return with another bid when the transfer window reopens in January.

The experienced Italian coach revealed that the timing of PSG’s previous interest was not ideal for either the player or Atalanta, but hinted that the situation could resurface in the coming months.

Despite the transfer speculation, Gasperini stressed that his immediate focus remains on ensuring Lookman stays fully committed to Atalanta and continues delivering impressive performances for the club.

The 27-year-old has established himself as one of Atalanta’s most influential players after helping the Italian side win the UEFA Europa League last season with a memorable hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen.

His consistent displays have also strengthened his reputation on the international stage, making him one of Nigeria’s standout performers and a leading contender for the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.
