Former Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro believes Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has the qualities needed to establish himself as an important figure for Lazio, despite a slow start to life in Serie A.

Dele-Bashiru made the switch from Turkish football to Italy over the summer, joining Lazio on loan from Hatayaspor with an obligation to buy included in the deal.

Softfootball understands the midfielder is yet to open his league account, though he’s shown flashes of quality in the Europa League, scoring twice and providing two assists in four appearances.

Speaking to Sportitalia, Peseiro explained what initially caught his eye about the Nigerian during his time coaching the national team. He said:

His qualities really struck us when we were looking at the players eligible for the call-up.

He is proving his worth, while still adapting to the demands of Italian football and Lazio.

Peseiro expressed confidence that consistency will come with time as Dele-Bashiru continues settling into his new surroundings. He added:

With time he will achieve the consistency required in the game and at the club.
