Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika has expressed his delight after scoring his first-ever UEFA Champions League goal against Manchester City.

The Nigeria international gave the Belgian champions the lead shortly before half-time when he found the back of the net at the Etihad Stadium.

However, Manchester City responded strongly after the break, scoring three goals to complete a comeback victory and secure all three points.

Despite the disappointing result, Onyedika was delighted to achieve a personal milestone by scoring his first goal in Europe’s biggest club competition. Onyedika told Flashscore.

I don’t know how to put it, but it’s an amazing feeling to score my first goal in City’s stadium. I’m so proud.

The midfielder also admitted that Club Brugge struggled to cope with City’s response after taking the lead.

We knew it would be difficult after we got the first goal, we were a bit sloppy. And when we conceded the first goal, they had more momentum and energy.

he said.

Onyedika added that the Belgian side’s mistakes made the challenge even more difficult as the Premier League champions took control of the match.
